Bavik brewery
In August 1894 Adolphe De Brabandere, farmer at the "Hof ter Koutere" submitted an application with the town council of Bavikhove for permission to “build a brewery”. One of his children, Joseph De Brabandere, concocted that very same year his very first brew. Joseph De Brabandere died in 1929 at the age of 54. After some difficult years, his son Albert took the lead of the brewery and under his impulse the company grew steadily.

In Flanders, "Ezel" {donkey} is a nickname given to specific people or even entire village communities. However, as the people of this area, the word "Ezel" symbolizes not so much stupidity, but patient and dogged perseverance, a perseverance that is quite conscious of its own quality. The same applies to this ale: brewed from raw materials of the highest quality, it has a mellow taste that shows a real personality. Orange aroma. Sweet, malty, orange and honey flavor. More then moderate full. Moderate long finish, little bitterness.

It has a mellow taste quite light and fresh. Orange with lovely carbonation strings.  The head is big, small bubbles below, big ones in the middle and a nice cream dome on top. The taste is quite light and fresh.  A tasty beer with a nice taste pallet !

Petrus Blond 6.6° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Pours a clear golden orange color with a huge fluffy white head, leaving a nice amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. The nose has aromas of grain, fruit and spice coming through. The taste is very pleasant, refreshing and well balanced. The finish is very clean. Definitely worth checking out.

Petrus Dubbel Brown 6.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Petrus Double Brown Ale is a top-fermented dark beer. Brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts. This dark beer with its subtle and slightly caramelized flavour is preferably served cool.

Petrus Golden Triple 7.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Petrus Triple is the Bavik’s brewery showpiece, a blond beer of 7,5% vol. alc. with re-fermentation in the bottle. A fine example that beer brewing is a craft.

Nice white blossoming head with spicy cardimon and citrus flower aroma. The body is light and hoppy with a dried spiced finish.

Petrus Old Brown 5.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Top-fermented beer with a deep dark red colour. This beer ripens for 24 months in oak barrels. This gives Petrus Original (in Flanders called “Oud Bruin”) its vinous, noble taste and slightly sour in character. The mild alcohol content makes this beer the perfect thirst-quencher.

Simustaniously sour and sweet with a nice brown head.

Petrus Speciale 5.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Amber coloured top-fermented beer, brewed according to an old traditional recipe. A tasty beer, mellow in character that you can carry on drinking. Pours a lighly hazed honeyed amber color with some orange highlights. Big, rocky bone white head that's lasting a good while and leaving nice lacing. Aromas of honey, pear, hay and a lightly herbaceous hop character.

Crisp and refreshing.

Pilaarbijter Blond 7.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

"Triple" Blond Ale refermented in the bottle. Brewed with love by the brewmaster at Bavik. This Belgian Ale pours with a yellow body topped by a medium tick head. The aroma is slightly sweet but mostly bitter and grassy with a spicy woody note.

Medium bodied and smooth but mostly dry.

Pilaarbijter Dark 6.5° - 1/3L - 11.6fl.oz

Dark Ale fermented in the bottle. Yellow brown head. Vanilla, bit of chocolate malts. Later more herbal, nearly piney. Dark malts prevail in the taste but the beer is neutral rather then sweet bitter.

Aftertaste is a late bittering onset, slightly hoppy in character.

Wittekerke Rosé 4.3° - 1/4L - 8.4fl.oz

This beer is suprizingly tasty. A sweet flavour, a lively color and a sensual body. Its low alcohol content appeal the beer to be more of a fruity soda (beerpop). The appearance is really pink, nice foam and very refreshing. Nice smell of a lot of strawberry's, red fruits, sugars and bubblegum. The taste is marvelous and dangerous sweetness of red fruits, sugar, and very mild. Surprising beer(pop) it is !

Wittekerke Special White 5.8° - 1/4L - 8.4fl.oz

In 1999 the Bavik brewery has created the Wittekerke Speciale for the cold days. When this little brother is poured out, you will enjoy a cloudy gold blond special beer It is a heart-warming stronger beer that inspires confidence in the first cold days. Its taste made of nuts and apricot with a sweet and tonic aftertaste. The aroma is wheaty and spicy with some hints of citrus. Let the bottle mature for a few weeks in the cellar to get the best taste.

Wittekerke White 5° -1/4L - 8.4fl.oz

This white beer receive the bronze award in the world beer cup 2006. Is is a tasty top-fermented beer. You will recognize Wittekerke White by the dense, creamy head. The flavour is rounded and has a spicy subdued bitterness. The celebrated beer connoisseur Michel Jackson becomes lyrical while describing Wittekerke as "creamy, aromatic, with a clean, teasing, perfumy fruitiness and faintly herbal tartness". A refreshing starter !

Bavik Premium Pils 5.2° - 1/4L -

The Bavik Premium Pils is brewed with the best malt and hop. This beer is at its best served cool.

Very light, hardly any sparkling, fine white Head. The bitterness already introduced in t he aroma comes completely forward in the aftertaste. Considered one of the top Pilsners during the Michael Jackson International Pilsner tasting in Beer Passion Magazine, Autumn 2000 where 27 Pilsners from around the world were blindly tasted and compared.
